Zucchinis, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes, carrots, beets, green peas, potatoes, grapes…
Nuidô, or « the way of embroidery, » as it is taught at the Japanese Embroidery Center, is a holistic way of life combining embroidery, gardening, and meditation. It has always been an ideal horizon for me, yet life in fashion-centric Paris and years of caregiving led me down a different path.
This mandala garden I managed to grow a few years ago during rehab remains a fleeting glimpse of that original impulse …one that needs to return.
